Before You Begin Gather the proper tools before you begin : • Small (No . 1) Phillips-head screwdriver • Medium (No . 2) Phillips-head screwdriver • Small flathead screwdriver • Medium flathead screwdriver • MS-DOS ® CD-ROM Extensions diskette and Installation Guide for MS -DOS CD-ROM Extensions software • MS -DOS 3.1 or later • OCLC Check CD Program 3. 00 diskette • PASSPORTR Software (working diskette or hard-drive copy) and the PASSPORT Software User Guide • Labels and a pen or pencil to label the cables Before you remove your controller board from its pac

This board is your control- ler board . 7 Locate the IF number on the front of the controller board. IF num- bers are formatted in the following ways : IF and a number; IF, I, and a number; or IF, a number, and a letter. For example , there is a TCD-IFI8 controller board. 8 Write down the IF number , you will need it for section 6, step 6. 9 Remove the CD drive connection cable from the back o

• Hitachi 3700, 2 Remove the screw (located on the top of the frame at the rear of the unit) that secures the OCLC I/0 Board . Save the screw to reinstall the board. 3 Do not drop or bend any parts that are mounted on boards. Boards are sensitive and easily damaged . Grasp the top of the board with both hands , one near each end of the board. Then lift the board straight up . You may need to pull fumly with a slight rocking motion because some boards are tightly inserted. If you have an M300 Workstation , remove the flat ribbon cable attached to

• Hitachi 3700, • • • 3 Make sure the CD controller board is set at the appropriate I/0 ad- dress. The TCD-IFIS controller board comes factory-preset with a hardware I/0 address of 300-30F. The jumper defining the I/0 ad- dress is located on a selectable address panel on the pin switch P1 on the bottom left area of the CD controller board (see fig. 1). Make sure the jumper is placed on S4, the fourth jumper from the top, for an address of 300H. Write down &q

• Hitachi 3700, 3.3 Install a Hitachi 3700 CD Drive in a Case 6 Use the following guidelines when installing a Hitachi 3700 CD drive in a case: • Hitachi 3 700 CD drives can be installed in the same case as Hitachi 3600 CD drives. • Hitachi 3 700 CD drives cannot be installed in the same case as Hitachi 3500 CD drives . Hitachi 3700 and 3500 CD drives must be installed in separate cases and chained together with a CD-ROM cable . The following procedure tells you how to add 3700 drives to either a 3600 or 3700 case. 1 2 3 T

Insert and tighten two screws on each side . Drives are tested in sequential order for Select, Reset, Seek, and Read functions . However , since screen messages scroll rapidly off the display during execution, you may want to print the screen displays on a parallel printer so that you will have time to analyze the test results . 1 Reboot your workstation with MS-DOS 3.1 or later. 2 Insert a compact disc that con

Reconfigure PASSPORT Software If you use an OCLC synchronous mode with a dedicated-line workstation attached to a CD drive , change the 1/0 Board address setting under the synchronous setting in the PASSPORT Software configuration. (Refer to the PASSPORT Software User Guide , chapter 3 for additional information .) If that is not the problem, check that the drive selection (on the back of the drive) is correct.
