  • Centronics 101AL, PMSO l: (Paper Movement Solenoid) Generated on LSI chip ME5 pin 7. Any paper movement command (i.e., line feed, form feed or ver- tical tab). The low PMSOL output activates a driver circuit on the Power Driver board, which in turn ac- tivates the paper movement solenoid on the form feed unit. This causes paper to advance in the printer. PMSO L remains low until one of the following conditions occurs: (1) A paper time-out condition exists. (2) A power prime (PWRPRM) condition exists. (3) During a form feed

  • Centronics 101AL, RIBBON FEED MECHANISM J. Ribbon Driving Shaft Assembly 1. To disassemble and remove ribbon driving shaft assembly (HI-79), perform the· following steps: a. Remove screws (H 1-17) from left side of printer and remove bush ing holder (HI-84). b. Remove screws (HI-86) holding cover (HI-85) and holder (HI-84) together, releasing entire driving shaft (H 1-79). Note, that clutch spring (H H-80) must be unhooked from cover (HI-85). c. Remove snap ring (H 1-87) on left lend of driving shaft. d. Release and remove driving gear (1-11-75) by unscrewing allen-head set-screw (HI-78) and releasing spring (HI-Tn and ball HI-76). • Centronics 101AL, The leading edge of FWDCLD or PMSO L triggers the one-shot causing the output ME 1, pin 3 to go high for a 9-second interval. The resulting low on ME5, pin 6 appears on the cathode (pin 2) of ME2. This turns on ME2 causing current to flow from ME 1, pin 4 (emitter) into the gate of SCR 02, turning it on. With 02 conducting, thus "shorting" the full-wave bridge rectifier, a current pulse, produced by one half of the AC line voltage and passed by the "shorted" rectifier, flows into the gate of the triac (01) switching it to the ON st

Note Following points of above procedure: a. Split pin (HD-9) should not interfere with movement of spring (HD-10). b. Piston Rod (HD-2) should be returned to normal position easily by spring (HD-10), when pushing down piston rod by hand and releasing. c. When replacing lid (HD-11), care should be taken that rod (HD-2) moves freely in bushings. 5.2.5.3 Adjustments 1. Tighten center

PAPER MOVEMENT 10183 A small independent motor not shown in Figure 1-5, provides the power necessary to move the sprocket-feed tractors which control paper movement. To move the paper, the printer electronics activates a line feed solenoid which activates a clutch that mechanicallv links the motor to the sprocket-feed tractors. To initiate a single line feed, the line feed solenoid is energized for 15 milliseconds to

  • Centronics 101AL, Rev. E If no FWDCLD or PMSOL signal is received during a 9-second interval, one-shot ME 1 times-out causing its output ME 1, pin 3 to go low. This turns off ME2 by delivering a high to ME2, pin 2, which in turn stops current flow out of ME2, pin 4 and prevents 02 from turning on. With 02 off, there is no current flow from the bridge rectifier to pulse 01. Therefore, 01 does not conduct, removing 115 VAC from the motors. No further action occurs until another FWDC LD or PMSO L signal is received. At this time, anyo

  • Centronics 101AL, CARRIAGE MECHANISM The carriage is moved by the main driving belt (HA-36). Parts HA-41 through HA-44 and HA- 58 through HA-64 are mounted on the underside portion of the carriage. These parts are designed to absorb shock on the belt tension and linear alignment. The ribbon guide roller (HA-5), mounted on the carriage and head bracket (70), holds the ribbon at proper position insurinQ proper tension on the ribbon while printing. Bracket (50) is a part of the video amplifier ass'y and supports the video circuitry for print regi

  • Centronics 101AL, 4.8 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS I n addition to the paper movement and character printing functions, the printer also performs the following special functions: Bell,Delete, Paper Empty, and Motor Control (optional). 4.8.1 BELL Reception of a bell code (007) or detection of a paper empty condition (PE goes low) causes a BE LL signal to be generated on LSI chip ME5 pin 39. lhis BE LL signal is a 0.8 to 1.6 KHz output approximatE,ly one to two seconds in duration. BE LL is amplified by 07 and 08 and the

  • Centronics 101AL, DRIVING MECHANISM C. Operating Conditions, Drive Mechanism (F igune 5-2) Alternate forces are exerted on timing belts (H 8-48, and belt 49) including main drive belt (HA-36) and motor (H B-98) because of inHrtia of print head carriage and forward and reverse clutch timing peaks. These variations in the power transmission route are normally handled by the use of a motor clutch plate (HB-98) (part of motor) and motor pulley driver (HB-92) installed to protect belts and motor. Normal cycle time of

  • Centronics 101AL, APPENDIX B PARALLEL INTERFACE SPECIFICATIONS All standard Centronics printers contain a common 7-bit parallel interface. An optional eighth bit is available, as requir,d by the user. Detailed information describing the standard interface timing, signal descriptions, connectors and other specifications are contained in this appendix. The intent is to provide the user with the technical in- 'formation required to interface directly to a standard Centronics printer, or if neces- sary to design a special interface to adap~ the printer to a particular terminal

  • Centronics 101AL, 4.6 CHARACTER PRINTING When the dummy character appears at the shift register output (TB8), other than during a prime condition, the logic activates an electromechanical clutch which causes the print head to move from left to right across the page. As the print head carriage moves across the page, the timing fence (and light source) generate timing inputs to the video amplifier board. These timing signals are used by the logic to register the five full col
