• 1.3 Unpack Rackmount Box The rackmount box is one of three long boxes found in the unit’s shipping carton (see Figure 1-1 ). It contains these instructions, two rack brackets, screws, two front brackets for securing the unit in the rack, template, and a power cord bracket. • HP LaserJet 1000 series, 1.5 Install the Rack Rail Brackets Figure 1-2 shows the correct positioning of the AlphaServer DS15 on the rack rails. To install the rack brackets, refer to Figure 1-3 and follow these steps. 1. Insert the longer rear tabs into the corresponding openings on the rear rack rail and push the bracket slightly toward the rear of the rack X. Pull the bracket forward and in toward the side of the cabinet aligning the shorter front tabs into their corresponding openings in the front rack rail Y

• 1.6 Attach the Rackmount Ears 1. Align the three vertical holes located on the front edge of the system with the three holes on the rackmount ears (see Figure 1-4). 2. • HP LaserJet 1000 series, 1.7 Insert and Secure the AlphaServer DS15 1. Using both hands, place the AlphaServer DS15 onto the rails and push it back into the cabinet (see Figure 1-5). 2. Push the AlphaServer DS15 back into the rack. 3. Secure the AlphaServer DS15 into the cabinet by fastening the right and left front rackmount ears. Attach the power cord bracket with attached screw Y, turning it clockwise, but not tight. 3. Route the power cord over the back of the rail, into the cabinet side area. 4. Continue cabling. When all cabling is complete, connect power cord Z to the power controller unit. 5.
