• HP Kayak XA 05xx, English 17 2 How to Create a Deployment Database Setting up Software Lists (HP ConfigTailor 1.1 Only) 2 A New Software List window will open, prompting you to specify both the operating system and the platform, and then assign a name to the new software list. Every software list is specific to a single HP Kayak PC workstation platform/model and a single choice of operating system version, so you must complete these fields. If you click on Cancel, you will return to the main Software List Manager window above.

Interrupting the installation process gives you the chance to upload a disk image to the server or duplicate hard disk drives. The options available are as follows: • Stop when the Windows NT 4.0 operating system has been fully installed and is ready to be run for the first time. Define the User Limit and Permissions that you want. (A minimum of Read-Only is required for HP ConfigTailor). e C

For information on how to upgrade from HP ConfigTailor 1.0 to HP ConfigTailor 1.1, please refer to “Upgrading from HP ConfigTailor 1.0 to HP ConfigTailor 1.1” on page 39. 1 Insert the HP ConfigTailor CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive on the server PC. There is an autorun function that will open up the HP ConfigTailor 1.1 Welcome Screen on your default web browser in a few moments, as shown below. 2 Click on “Create Deployment Database”. • HP Kayak XA 05xx, English 11 2 How to Create a Deployment Database Installing HP ConfigTailor d After the packages have been copied, you will be requested to remove the HP ConfigTailor CD-ROM and insert the Windows NT 4.0 and Service Pack CD-ROMs. The required operating system files will then be copied to your server. 5 Once the setup utility has finished, it is imperative that you share the folders where HP ConfigTailor is installed using certain naming conventions. To share the HP Software folder: a Open Windows Explorer. b By clicking once, highlight the folder containing software utilities and applications—by default: c:\program files\HP ConfigTailor\HP Software c Right-click

• HP Kayak XA 05xx, English 57 5 Troubleshooting Common Problems Problems Related to Windows 95 Driver Versions Recall that: • A Local Full Install requires 900 MB available on your hard disk. • A Remote Full Install requires 850 MB available on your hard disk. Problems Related to Windows 95 Driver Versions Auto-detect problems when updating drivers under Microsoft Windows 95. We recommend that you set the field PnP Operating System to No while updating drivers under Microsoft Windows 95. To do so press F2, while booting, to enter Setup. • HP Kayak XA 05xx, English 53 5 Troubleshooting Common Problems Problems Related to the Creation of, or Installation from, a Deployment Database 2 Microsoft IE 3.02 also contains Java Virtual Machine related bugs, which are documented in the Microsoft Knowledge base (http://support.microsoft.com/). The following problems may occur: • IE 3.02 loops forever after clicking on an HTML hyperlink in one of the HP ConfigTailor HTML pages. • IE 3.02 crashes after pressing continuously on the “Refresh” button. • The mouse cursor is a vertical arrow instead of a hand. If you choose Yes, you can choose to enter default values for the following fields: • The name of the workgroup or domain to which the client PC workstations belong. • The network protocols to install on the client PC workstations. To add network protocols to the list, click Add. You can choose to add one or more protocol. All selected protocols

By clicking Add, you will open the Add Software List window shown below. NOTE If you need to unlink a software list from a configuration profile (in order to modify the software list, for example), you can do so from the Installation Type window (shown on page 26) by selecting the software list and clicking Remove. • Select the installation type: - Minimum.
