  • HP Memory Modules, 1 Replacing the memory module The computer has one memory module compartment, which is located on the bottom of the computer. The memory capacity of the computer can be enhanced by upgrading the existing memory module in the memory module slot. WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock and damage to the equipment, unplug the power cord and remove all batteries before installing a memory module. CAUTION Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage electronic components. Before beginning any procedure, ensure that you are discharged of static electricity by touching a grounded metal object. To replace a memory module: 1. Save your work. 2. Shut down the computer and close the display. If you

  • HP Memory Modules, 2 Effect of increasing memory on the hibernation file When hibernation is initiated, the operating system saves your information to a hibernation file on the hard drive and then turns off the computer. The operating system reserves space on the hard drive to store the hibernation file based on the amount of system memory. When you increase the system memory, the operating system increases the hard drive space reserved for the hibernation file. If you experience problems with hibernation after increasing memory, be sure that the amount of free space on the hard drive is larger than the space
