Koss KS4380-2, 16 Basic Connection Diagram: The diagram below represents a typical connection. In this diagram you can view the picture from DVD movie discs on your TV set. You can also play the sound from your stereo TV set and the sound from your stereo VCR through the speakers of this system. External Decoder Connection-Not Required: This DVD player has its own built in Dolby Digital decoder that provide digital 5.1 channel Surround Sound audio from DVD movies encoded with Dolby Digital soundtracks. No external decoders are required. We have also included Coaxial Digital Audio outp
Koss KS4380-2, 36 Speaker Configuration setup is important to perform prior to using the surround sound modes. It is possible to receive multi-channel surround sound without a center speaker. But for best results with Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital decoding, at least 5 speakers (Left, Center, Right, Left Rear and Right Rear) should be used. OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON Press to open or close the DVD/CD drawer to load or remove a disc. 3. REMOTE SENSOR Receives the commands from the remote control handset. 4. NIGHT (The NIGHT function operates only when the Dolby Digital Surround mode is activated.) If you play a movie at low volume at night, set this function to “ON” to narrow the dynamic range of the sound and make it easier to hear. 5. Koss KS4380-2, 34 Preferences The preferences page allows you to select the default language for the audio, subtitles and disc menus, change the parental control setting to prevent children from viewing unsuitable material, and change the password which is needed in order to change the parental control level. Important: You cannot enter the Preferences page while a DVD disc is playing. If a disc is playing you must press the STOP button twice to completely stop playback. 37 Karaoke Function This system has a Karaoke function which can be accessed as follows: 1. Insert a Karaoke disc (CD-G, VCD or DVD) into the disc tray and press play to start playback. 2. Plug in 1 or 2 microphones (NOT INCLUDED) into (one of) the 2 microphone jacks on the front panel of the main unit. 3. Switch the Mic ON/OFF button to the ON position. 4. P

Koss KS4380-2, 13 Installation This section describes how to connect the system to the speakers, a TV monitor with audio / video input jacks and other video components. You cannot connect this system to a TV monitor which does not have a video input connector. Be sure to turn off the power of each component before making the connectors. Koss KS4380-2, 18 Speaker Positioning Information Your system is supplied with 5 compact sized satellite speakers and one subwoofer. The satellite speakers reproduce only the mid range and higher frequencies. All of the low frequency (bass) sounds are produced by the subwoofer. Proper positioning and placement of the speakers is important in order to provide the best surround sound experience. Koss KS4380-2, 39 Angle Selection Some DVD discs contain scenes which have been shot simultaneously from a number of different angles. For these discs, the same scenes can viewed from each of the different angles. (The recorded angles differ from disc to disc.) 1. While playing a title shot from different angles, the angle mark appears on the TV screen. 2. Press the ANGLE button to change the scenes from one angle to other angles(s).
