• Metz LCD-TV (F)HDTV-set, 39. Inserting/Removing CA Modules The LCD TV has two slots (CI1 / CI2) for CA modules at the top (card reader for smartcards or decoder cards). To insert the CA module, open the lid on the top of the LCD TV and insert the CA module in one of the slots as shown in the pictures. Press the CA module down until the unlocking bar is lifted up. Base width In the case of stereo transmissions, the base width (= spatial distance between the loudspeakers) can be artificially widened to achieve a larger stereo triangle. Spatial sound In the case of mono transmis- sions, an artificial stereo effect can be produced. Activate base width/spatial sound: • Press the "MENU" key. Can be used in combination with  or  if this option is available. It is always possible to use the TV speakers as the centre speaker if the AV receiver has this output available. Tone setting The tone setting can be set to "Normal" or "Speech". The setting "Speech" should be used primarily for stations which broadcast mainly pro- grammes with a lot of speech, such as news sta- tions. The setting "Normal" is better for music pro- grammes. Registering AV Devices AV (audio/video) devices are external devices which deliver video and/or audio signals (such as video recorders, DVD players, DVD recor- ders, etc.) and which can be connected to TV sets. All commonly available AV devices are listed in the menu "AV devices". Note that you must always connect AV devices exactly as shown in the connection diagram in the TV menu of your TV set ! SVHS/Hi8 and Data Logic video recorders must always be connected to the EURO1 socket of the TV

If this automatic selection does not provide satis- factory results (which should happen only rarely), you can select the colour standard manually for each programme position. The colour standard is set in the factory to "Auto- matic". When the automatic zoom function is active, pro- grammes in a "widescreen" format (such as pro- grammes in 16:9) are expanded to fill as much of the screen as possible.
