When finished, the WEIGH IN key is pressed to save the settings and resume normal operation. The GS8920’s keys which are used for digital setup and for setting the time and date follow. They are identified with a label which denotes their setup function, an example being “DS” for digital setup. Note :- The GS8920 includes several levels of protection for the digital setup parameters. At the first level, with no other interlocks set, a precise keystroke sequence is required to access the parameters. In applications where this does not provide adequate pro

Gedge Systems GS8920, 2 Installing the GS8920 Ticket Printer. 2 .1 About this Sec tion This section describes the installation of the basic GS8920 Ticket Printer. It should be read in conjunction with section 1 Using the GS8920 Ticket Printer“ and, if the optional calendar/clock BR2 or the serial output option P1 is installed, section 3 ”OPTIONS“. 2 .2 In stal la tion Steps. Following is a check list of the steps required for the installation of the GS8920 Ticket Printer. 1) Unpack GS8920 Ticket Printer. Check the supply voltage. (Unpacking, 2.3) 2) Install options. (Options section 3) 3) Select/Enter the GS8920’s setup parameters. (Digital Setup, 2.4) 4) Select/Enter the
Gedge Systems GS8920, A complete weight ticket is then printed. If the GS8920 has been set up for parts counting and item entry, then the quantity and price per unit weight will need to be entered prior to the GS8920 printing a ticket. After the ticket is printed, the tare register is cleared. Used also as numeral 4. CODE WT/5 Key. This key has 3 uses which depend upon the GS8920’s display at the time the CODE/WT key is operated. The 3 uses are :- 1 To access the active accumulator’s material code number. 2 To access the active tare register’s tare weight. 3 To access the GS8920’s ALPHA Name Table facility. 1. If the GS8920’s

Gedge Systems GS8920, 1 .4 .6 Entering a Tare Weight via the GS8920 Keyboard. The GS8920 will store up to fifty 6 digit tare weights each of which is accessed by reference to its tare register number in the range 1 to 50. The stored tare weight belonging to the currently active tare register is displayed by first keying TARE then ENTER to display the current tare register’s number followed by CODE/WT to display the tare weight. The GS8920 will be in the NUMERAL entry mode following operation of the CODE/WT key and a new tare weight may be entered using the numeral keys followed by ENTER to save the n
1 .4 .13 .2 Item Entry with unknown Quantities Following operation of a function key the GS8920 will display Count. Keying ENTER immediately instead of a quantity will indicate to the GS8920 that the quantity is to be calculated. The GS8920 will now display the message -Av- for average weight each. If a sample has just been weighed and its calculated average weight is to be used then key
Gedge Systems GS8920, 3 .3 .2 Setting the Time and Date. The time, date and format in which they are printed may only be adjusted via access to the GS8920’s digital setup routines provided access to the digital setup parameters and calendar/clock is NOT locked out by the GS8920’s interlocks. For details of the GS8920’s interlocks refer to Section 2 Installation. When stepping through the time, date and format settings, they appear in the order :- Time HH.MM.SS Date DD.MM.YY Although the year is entered as two digits, it is printed as four in GS8920s fitted with software version SA2.0 or higher afte
Gedge Systems GS8920, Additionally, the GS8920’s item entry and counting facility may be in use. In this event, the item’s quantity and unit price or unit weight and unit price will require entry following operation of the WEIGH OUT key. (Refer to Item Entry for details of the entry sequence.) 1 .4 .10 End to End Weighing/Adding weights together using SUM. The GS8920’s twelve digit summation register allows up to 30 weights to be added together to form one weight for use on a ticket. This facility has particular application in multiple axle weighing using a small weighbridge although some weighing codes of practice may prohibit its use. The first operation of the SUM key clears the summati

Gedge Systems GS8920, However, the GS8920 will stop its calculations if the numbers exceed 12 digits, and so, the number of decimal places selected here should not be unreasonable when compared with the weight indicators setting. An unreasonable example would be a weight indicator setup with a dummy zero and this decimal place setting on 5 decimals ! This would mean the GS8920 has to deal with a weight number of 11 digits ( 199990.00000 ) before any calculations are made ! This will cause frequent “err 12" messages as numeral overflow occurs. Adjustable 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 . 2 .4 .3 .4 Decimals, Price. dEC.
Gedge Systems GS8920, 1 .6 .2 .4 Summing Weights. (End to End Weighing) In this example, a truck is too long to physically fit on the weighbridge. The total truck weight will be arrived at by weighing first one end of the truck and then the other. This can be accomplished using the GS8920’s summation capability. The truck is fully laden and its tare weight will be entered via the GS8920’s keyboard from information printed on the side of the truck. The ticket printout setup is the same as the preceding example. Since the addition of the truck weight using the SUM key must immediately precede the AC+ key, all other information which is to be printed must be entered first. Following entry of the ID
Gedge Systems GS8920, 2 .4 .3 .10 Id Names (descriptors) Id.n 6 Up to 6 of the temporary ID numbers which may be entered and printed at the top of a ticket may be printed with a 12 character name/description from the alpha name table. The names used are those with reference numbers 40 to 45. Name reference 40 is always printed with the first ID number, name 41 with the second and so on to name number 45 with the sixth ID. Temporary ID numbers which are entered beyond this setting are printed without names. For example, if this setting were 4, the first 4 IDs would have accompanying names but any more IDs entered at the same time up to a maximum of a further 5 for pri
Gedge Systems GS8920, 1 .4 .2 Entering and Printing ID Numbers. The GS8920 has one permanent ID number register and 9 temporary ID registers. The permanent ID number, which may be entered at any time, is retained in memory and always printed at the top of a ticket. The temporary ID numbers are not retained in memory but are loaded into the GS8920’s print buffer when the PRINT key is operated. Temporary ID numbers which are to appear at the top of a ticket must be keyed in immediately before operation of either the SUM key or the ticket printing keys AC +, AC -, WEIGH IN or WEIGH OUT . Provided the PRINT key is operated instead of the ENTER

When the message PAPEr is displayed tells the user that a new ticket must be inserted. Used also as numeral 8. SUM/9 Key. The first operation displays Su 01 and places the next gross weight reading from the digital weight indicator into the summation register. Successive key operations cause the GS8920 to get another weight reading from the weight indicator and to add that reading to the weight already in the summation register. The number in the display is incremented by 1. Up to 30 additions can be made. An attempt to excee
Gedge Systems GS8920, 1 .6 .2 .5 Weigh In This example uses the same setup as the preceding examples and illustrates the use of the GS8920’s automatic tare allocation in its weigh in/weigh out capability. A truck arrives at the weighbridge fully laden. Since the truck is being weighed in, no information need be entered into the GS8920 Ticket Printer. ID numbers may be used to keep track of the truck’s registration number and any other useful information. The accumulator does not need to be selected as weights are not added to the accumulator at this stage. In this example the truck is driven onto the weighbridge, ID numbers are entered via the GS8920’s keyboard and the WEIGH IN key
1 .6 .2 .6 Weigh Out When the truck again arrives at the weighbridge on its way out of the factory, the ID numbers appearing on the weigh in ticket are entered into the GS8920 Ticket Printer via its keyboard. In addition the accumulator number to which the weights will be added is also entered. The truck drives onto the weighbridge and the WEIGH OUT key is operated.
Gedge Systems GS8920, 1 .4 .9 Creating a Truck “Weigh Out” Ticket with Copy. A “weigh out” ticket can only be printed if a “weigh in” ticket has first been created. The “weigh out” ticket can either be printed upon the same ticket that was used for the “weigh in” or it can be printed upon a new ticket. In any event, the GS8920 will have been set up during installation to provide the correct line feeds for proper placement of the information upon the ticket without overwriting the “weigh in” data. A truck is “weighed out” and a “weigh out” ticket printed following operation of the WEIGH OUT key. The weight used can either
