• Calixto Telit GL86x, 1. Introduction This document talks about details of Calixto’s Telit GL86x based GPRS modem (CST-GL86x-MODEM and CST-GL86x-MODEM-BC). These modems are optimum ready to use solution for customers of Machine to Machine (M2M) applications. This module is based on Telit GL865 GSM/GPRS module. Calixto provides optional battery charging feature for this modem (CST-GL86x-MODEM-BC). Some key application areas include: • Industrial M2M communications • Remo

Calixto CST-GL86x-MODEM ordering Info 3.1 Product Variants There are two variants of the module available: • Standard modem with Telit GL868 DUAL module: CST-GL868-MODEM • CST-GL868-MODEM with battery charging interface: CST-GL868-MODEM-BC Note: There is option for customers to order GL865 QUAD version of the modem. But, minimum order quantity in this case will be 100. 4. Product details The figures below shows pictures of CST-GL868-MODEM-BC with important components marked. SIM card holder is in the other side of the board as in second picture .

• Calixto Telit GL86x, 5. Hardware Description 5.1 Telit GL86x module: This modem implements all the functionalities including Digital/Analog out using Telit’s GL86x series of GSM/GPRS module. Default version of the module is GL868 DUAL. For orders more than 100 lots, customers have opportunity to order different versions of GL86x modules. This document is not including any details of GL86x module. • Calixto Telit GL86x, 5.3 Power Jack The power Jack supported is 2mm DC power jack with locking option. The figure below shows the power jack used in the modem. 5.4 LED Indications There are two LEDs in the CST-GL868-MODEM. LED1 (at D1) is power LED and LED2 (at D6) is GPRS status LED. For CST-GL868-MODEM-BC, there is an additional Charging Indicator LED (D2). 5.5 Battery connector CST-GL868-MODEM-BC modem has additional battery connector. • Calixto Telit GL86x, 7.2 Communication Software Customer can use any serial terminal program in PC to communicate with modem. We have used “rsterm” for our development and test. Below figure shows typical screen shot of rsterm. Customer can use either AT commands or program the GL86x module with Python script defined by Telit. Some of the documents to be referred are: 1.
