Akura CDC388AR, Page 5 CONNECTIONS POWER CONNECTION Connect the power co rd to AC outlet onl y. SPEAKER JACKS Connect the SPEAKER PLUGS to the SPEAKER JACKS located on the rear of the unit. This unit should not be connected to speakers with an impedance of less than 4 ohms, otherwise damage may result to the unit. HEADPHONE JACK (PHONES) This unit will accept stereo headphones (not inc luded) with a 3.5mm plug and an impedance of 16 ohms or greater. The speakers are automatically disconnected when headphones are connected to the PHONES jack. POWER - Press to turn unit ON or OFF. Akura CDC388AR, Page 8 Playing A Cassette Be sure to tighten any slack tape in the cassette before use.Using either a pencil or a ball-point pen,simply insert the pen or pencil into the centre of the spool and rotate to remove slackness.Depress the CASS.STOP/EJECT butto n to open the cassette door. Insert the cassette into the compartmen t with the open end facing downw ards and full reel on the left hand side,push the cassette well down and close the door .Be sure not to touch the tape surface.Select "TAPE" on the FUNCTION switch and press the PLAY button .To stop playback,press the CASS.STOP/EJECT butto n once.To release the cassette,press the CASS.STOP/EJECT button again. Akura CDC388AR, CASSETTE OPERATION When the cassette is held with the recorded side upper-most and exposed tape facing the front, the protective tab will be found on the left rear of the cassette. All pre-recorded cassettes are protected in this way to prevent accidental erasure of the commercial recording "Protected" cassettes will prevent the record button from being operated. If at any time you attempt to record and find that this button will not depress, never force the mechanism or it may be damaged. Check that a cassette has been loaded and that a tab has not been removed. Recording on a cassette from wh ich the tabs have been removed can be done by covering the tab open

Akura CDC388AR, CD OPERATION Page 11 Random Play The CD player can play tracks in a randomly generated sequence. Press the RANDOM button. The RANDOM indicator will appear. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button. The player will now select a track from the disc, at random, and begin to play that track. This continues until all the tracks have been played on that disk. Akura CDC388AR, IMPORTANT If the mains plug requires replacement, please follow the following instructions. DO NOT CONNECT THE CENTRE PIN (EARTH). Connect the Blue wire to the (N) terminal ( this may be coloured blue). Connect the Brown wire to the (L) terminal adjacent to the fuse ( this may be coloured brown).
